The rules for Capture the Flag (CTF) can vary depending on the specific scenario or field, but here are some general rules that are commonly used in Combat Rental evetns:
- Objective: The main objective is to capture the opposing team’s flag and return it to your team’s base without being eliminated.
- Respawns: Players who are eliminated (hit by a gellet) typically go to a designated respawn point before rejoining the game. The respawn process varies by game and field, so it’s essential to know the specific rules for the match you’re playing.
- Flag Placement: Each team has a designated home base where their flag is placed. The flag should be prominently displayed but not hidden. The flag must be accessible and retrievable by opponents.
- Capture: To capture the flag, a player must touch, grab, or somehow secure the opponent’s flag and return it to their team’s home base without being eliminated in the process.
- Tagging: Eliminations can occur through either being hit by a gellet, depending on the game’s rules. Once hit, a player is considered “out” and must follow the respawn rules.
- Tagged with the Flag: If a player is hit while carrying the flag, they must drop it at the spot where they were hit. The flag is then returned to its original position by a referee or an eliminated player from the opposing team.
- Flag Return: To score a point, a player must successfully bring the opponent’s flag back to their home base and physically touch their own team’s flag station with it. The flag must be placed in a clearly visible and designated location.
- Winning: The team that successfully captures the predetermined number of flags or has the most captures when the game time expires is declared the winner.
- Timeouts: Some games may allow for timeouts, during which players can discuss strategy or address any issues. The duration and conditions for timeouts should be specified before the game.
- Honor System / Referee: Fair play and adherence to the rules are crucial in gelblaster. Players are generally expected to call themselves out when hit, and disputes are often resolved through sportsmanship and the honor system. Players can also be called to respawn by designated “Refs” on the battlefield.
